MHL CONSORTIUM REACHES 200 ADOPTER MILESTONE

SEOUL, South Korea — May 28, 2013 — MHL, LLC today announced that the leading mobile connectivity solution – MHL® technology – now has 200 adopters. Since the introduction of the first MHL-enabled devices in 2011, the MHL ecosystem has continued to grow with an installed base of more than 260 million products from many of the world’s leading consumer and mobile device companies.

MHL enables mobile devices to output home theatre quality video and digital audio to HD displays while simultaneously charging the device. With MHL, consumers’ phones can be transformed into a gaming console, a fully functional portable office, or a home theater system. MHL-enabled products include smartphones, tablets, DTVs, TV accessories, Blu-ray Disc™ players, audio / video (AV) receivers, monitors, projectors, adapters, automotive accessories, cables, and more.

Key features of the current MHL 2 standard include:
• Greater than 900mA power to charge your mobile device
• 1080p/60 full HD content protected video
• Up to 8 channel surround sound
• Fully interoperable remote control features
• No lag when playing games or other interactive uses

“Reaching 200 adopters is a testament to the strength of the MHL standard and its commitment to enhancing the mobile experience,” said Dr. Judy Chen, president, MHL, LLC. “We continue to innovate to stay ahead of the fast changing mobile and CE marketplace, bringing new and compelling technologies to consumers.”

The MHL Consortium is hosting its 2nd annual PlugFest, May 28-29, 2013 in Seoul, South Korea. This MHL adopter event provides manufacturers an opportunity to test the interoperability of their products within the large ecosystem of MHL-enabled devices. Manufacturers use the MHL Compliance Test Specification (CTS), a series of tests defined by the MHL Consortium, to help assess their compliance to the MHL Specification.
