SUNNYVALE, Calif., — Feb. 21, 2012 — MHL, LLC, the entity responsible for administering the MHL Consortium and the adoption, licensing and promotion of the MHL™ (Mobile High-Definition Link) specification, today announced that more than 50 million MHL products were shipped globally in 2011. Highlighting the widespread adoption of the standard, the MHL Consortium now has more than 90 global licensees representing some of today’s leading industries, including consumer electronics, mobile, home theater, automotive and gaming.

MHL technology is an HD audio and video wired connectivity standard that enables a mobile device with MHL technology to deliver 1080p uncompressed video with up to eight channels of digital audio. MHL-enabled DTVs and displays also provide power back to the mobile device when connected, ensuring that the phone battery is charged and ready to use.
